Not only is it an incredible display of many different modern styles of architecture, it is an up and coming neighborhood that went from industrial area, to model neighborhood for the European Housing Exposition in 2001, to exclusive residential area. The buildings in Västra Hamnen are designed to be run on renewable energy and the neighborhood has received much praise and several awards for its sustainability. Its location on the old port overlooking Öresund makes this one of Malmö’s most attractive places to live. Scaniaparken
This long green strip is one of Malmö’s most visited parks. Here you will find a great jogging and bicycle track, volleyball courts as well as several beautiful bathing spots. If you visit Ljudkullen (the sound hill) you can listen to and enjoy a list of albums curated by the City of Malmö.
Turning Torso
This residential building was designed by the spanish architect Santiago Calatrava and inaugurated in 2005. Turning Torso – the tallest skyscraper in Scandinavia – is perhaps the most famous landmark in Sweden and the first twisted tower in the world.
City life
The area between Ankarparken and Daniaparken makes for a nice walk during which you’re likely to find several bars and restaurants where you can enjoy a meal and a drink. Dockan on the east side of Västra Hamnen is also a popular, slightly more quiet, spot for eating, drinking and enjoying the view of the ocean. Malmö’s Old Town (Gamla Väster) is beautiful, full of history and well worth the short trip from Västra Hamnen.

Socialise
In the near vicinity of Västra Hamnen you’ll find the Malmö Live quarters which, apart from having one of the most interesting music scenes in Sweden, is a popular meeting place for the young and hip to drink cocktails and hang out. Don’t miss the Skybar at Clarion Hotel.
On their spare time
Near Malmö Live lies Saluhallen, the market hall, which is famous not only for housing retailers of great produce but also the locals’ favorite pizza, sushi, and noodle restaurants. On a free day you can go for a bike ride down to Ribersborg beach or go for a game of the popular sport Padel at the PDL Center.
Communications
Malmö Central Station is located near the edge of Västra Hamnen. From there you can take the commuter trains (Pågatågen) that circle around Malmö City and connect Malmö with the rest of the Skåne region. Bus lines 2 (towards Triangeln and Davidshall), 3 (towards Triangeln and Möllevången), 5 (towards Möllevången), and 7 (to Ribersborg) all run through Västra Hamnen. Malmö is also a great city for cycling and most locals commute on their bikes.
